4.2 is out and the upcoming version 1.4

Well still waiting for 1.3 to hit the app store to fix that issue on non updated devices. At least the status has finally changed to ‘In review’.  This is the longest it has taken for a release go live! Figures it happens when there is problem.

Version 1.4 has a few new features:
1. Better Food and Activity Log reports
2. Facebook doesn’t want to keep you logged in, so if you did log in, and it expires, I let you know
3. An issue where hitting cancel on the email report pop up brought up the Print page instead.

This will be the last release this year so I can work on the universal iPhone/iPad version for January.

iOS 4.2 out today?

Apparently the reports are that iOS 4.2.1 will be made public today! This will solve the crashing problem for people who upgrade their devices. For those who do not, hold tight, still waiting for the fix to be released in to the App Store.

Issue with pre 4.2 devices and crashing

Apparently after adding printing support, the app no longer runs on pre 4.2 devices. I have a fix and am submitting to the app store today. I’m not sure how to speed it along, it normally takes 6-7 days once submitted for the app to be approved.
I’m really sorry about this, that will teach me to more careful though in the future when adding nifty new features.

Why Facebook and Twitter integration?

Version 1.2 of Track It! includes Facebook integration, and 1.3 includes Twitter integration. So why have integration at all?

One thing that helped me the most to stay on track, is, that while going to Weight Watchers meetings, I was held accountable, meaning every week someone was gong to be weighing me, and recording my weight.

For me, posting to my wall, or tweeting if a I had a good or bad week works the same way. Now my friends can see how I’m doing and offer encouragement. Let’s face it, losing weight is hard. We need all the support we can get!

So what does it mean if you allow the app to access your Facebook or Twitter account? Well, it means when you weigh yourself and record it, you have the option of posting to your wall, or tweeting out, in general terms, how you did. Never is your actual weight revealed, nor how much you lost/gained revealed. The app does not look at any of your private information in Facebook or Twitter, in fact your username/password are never revealed to or stored by the app.

Your privacy is respected at all times.

I hope you’ll use these new features as a tool to help you be more successful.

Version 1.2 should be available this week, and 1.3 will be submitted as soon as 1.2 hits the app store.

Pasta Fagioli

From a friend of mine.

1/4 cup Olive Oil
3- 15 oz cans Cannollini Beans
1 can low sodium chicken broth
1 – 15 oz can of diced tomato’s (italian style)
1 large sweet or vidalia onion
2 Tbls. chopped or diced garlic
2 Tbls. basil flakes
salt and red pepper flakes to taste
1/2 pound of a small soup pasta (Ditalini, Elbows, etc can use whole wheat if preferred)

In a medium size soup pot, brown onion (large chopped) until slightly translucent in the olive oil, then add garlic for a minute… Be careful not to burn garlic.

Add the beans in their juice, tomato in it’s juice, and the chicken broth and bring to a low simmer.

Add the basil, red pepper and salt to taste and slow simmer for 30 minutes stirring gently several times.

If a soupier consistency is desired, just add some water.

While that’s cooking, cook the pasta as directed until al dente. (not over soft)

Add drained pasta to the beans and serve with grated cheese and more red pepper if preferred.

(options include a cup of chopped fresh spinach or escarole in the last 5 minutes of cooking before adding pasta )

Serves 4 to 8 depending on use as a first course or the entree.

Nutrition for the whole dish, 4 servings and 8 servings (approx values):

Calories: 2492 /4 – 623/8 – 311
Fiber: 71 g / 4 – 17.5 g/8 – 9 g
Fat: 58 g /4 – 14.5 g/ 8 – 7.25 g
Points: 54 / 4 – 13/ 8 – 6

I would cut the olive oil in half to save 238 calories and 26 g of fat. Also if the pasta is cut in half that’s another 400 calories 4 grams of fat and 4 grams of fiber gone, and finally cutting out a full can of beans saves 385 calories and reduces the fiber by 21 grams.

I can’t wait to make this!

Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts

I admit when I saw the recipe I was a little skeptical, but this is not only healthy, it is fantastic tasting! Nutritional information at the end.

Makes 4 servings.
Ingredients:
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
5 ounces frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
2 tablespoons freshly grated parm cheese
1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Nonstick olive oil cooking spray
1 cup thinly sliced mushrooms
6 slices thinly  sliced low-fat turkey ham (I used regular ham, as it had less calories)
1 cup white grape jiuce

Directions

  1. Trim fat from chicken. Place each chicken between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound to about 1/4 inch thickness
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Pat spinach dry with paper towels. Combine spinach, Parm, lemon peel and black pepper in a large bowel. Spray small nonstick skillet with cooking spray, add mushrooms. Cook and stir over medium heat 3 to 4 minutes or until tender.
  3. Arrange 1 1/2 slices ham over each chicken breast. Spread each with one-fourth of spinach mixture. Top with mushrooms. Beginning with the longer side, roll chicken tightly. Tie with kitchen string.
  4. Place stuffed breasts, seam side down, in a 9-inch square baking pan. Lightly spray chicken with cooking spray. Pour white grape juice over the top. Bake 30 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink.
  5. Remove string; cut chicken rolls into 1/2-inch diagonal slices. Arrange on plate. Pour pan juices over chicken. Garnish as desired.   (I leave mine whole)

Version 1.1 is available!

new color scheme

Yea! Version 1.2 should be done this week, sporting the new color scheme above. (I like to use apps without my glasses!).

Also, it seems, since I am having Facebook integration, Facebook gives me an app page for folks to leave comments. A bonus so I hear back from my users.

Version 1.1 submitted to app store

I noticed that sometimes when you were add and entry and hit cancel, the app could crash so I fixed that.

Also I added in the ability to delete food list or activity list items, add more water or remove water drunk for a day, and added more information to remaining budget to summary screen and day view screens. Also you can now email Food Log or Activity Log entries for a day or week.
